The opportunity
Cardiff School of Sport and Health Sciences seeks to appoint a Technician Demonstrator in Physiology. The post holder will be required to demonstrate a range of practical concepts as part of our undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, and provide technical assistance to research and innovation activity. An in-depth knowledge of exercise physiology and associated equipment is essential.
The post is part-time (0.6 FTE), and the successful candidate will be encouraged and supported to undertake a part-time PhD in exercise and/or cardiovascular physiology, aligned to one of the current academic members of staff.
What we are looking for
The exercise physiology laboratories support the delivery of applied aspects of our Sport and Exercise science degree pathways, and high-quality research and innovation activity. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate practical techniques, processes and operation of equipment and software in laboratories to staff, students and visitors for timetabled taught practical sessions and for research activities. Our technicians are involved in the conception, planning and delivery of practical content and assessments for our taught programmes. They will be responsible for ensuring that equipment and materials are functioning effectively and safely, and prepare and implement maintenance schedules to meet statutory and university requirements. You will contribute to the health and safety practices of the laboratory, and assist the laboratory director with procurement and budgetary control.
