The Opportunity
Based in our state-of-the-art facility near to the heart of the capital city, Cardiff School of Management (CSM) is a dynamic and professionally focussed school offering a wide range of accredited qualifications from Foundation through to Doctorate across multiple discipline areas. Established subject areas include Business, Management, Leadership, Marketing, Fashion Marketing, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Banking, Tourism, Hospitality and Events - recently augmented with the addition of a Qualifying Law Degree (LLB).
We provide our students with a unique experience embodied in the Cardiff Met EDGE which develops in students the high levels of knowledge, skills and experience needed to become Ethical, Digital, Global and Entrepreneurial individuals in the 21st century. EDGE is at the heart of our offer with each subject specialist taught programme wrapped around this core set of graduate competencies.

An established or promising research profile in the field of Marketing and very good teaching experience on relevant programmes is essential.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
You will be required to make a significant contribution to the delivery of our taught portfolio contributing to BA (Hons) Marketing Management, BA (Hons) Digital Marketing Management degrees and BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing Management degrees, as well as compulsory modules on the BA (Hons) Business and Management with Marketing and other areas of our core curriculum depending on your areas of expertise and experience. The department also offers postgraduate degrees in Fashion Marketing and Digital Marketing as well as being a CIM Accredited Study Centre. Enthusiastic about student-centred pedagogy, you will take a leading role in programme development, student recruitment and quality enhancement as required, across the range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will also lead on aspects of employability, and professional engagement with relevant internal and external organisations, at a regional, national and international level.
You will be expected to make an internationally recognised contribution to the research profile of the department and to exceed the qualitative and quantitative requirements for submission to the next Research Excellence Framework.
The successful applicant will be expected to:
• Have an excellent awareness of marketing, and its impact on consumers and markets.
• Design teaching to be informed by contemporary research which leads to students developing the ability to engage in current debates, discourse and logical thinking.
• Have academic experience of marketing, and/or industry relationships.
What we are looking for - Experience & Strengths
An in-depth knowledge of specialist subject and professional area.
An in-depth understanding of pedagogy.
An in-depth understanding of research/enterprise and scholarly activity.
Ability to design, develop and deliver a range of programmes at various levels.
Ability to review programme design on a regular basis to ensure compliance with quality standards and academic regulations and to make alterations where appropriate.
Ability to contribute to the achievement of the School Development Plan and the institutions strategic planning processes.
Ability to develop research objectives, prepare proposals, carry out independent research, referee and contribute to peer assessment.
Ability to identify opportunities for strategic development/improvement e.g. research projects, new courses, consultancy.
Ability to identify (through the analysis of appropriate management information) areas requiring improved performance e.g. student numbers, student satisfaction.
Experience of HE teaching or equivalent.
Experience of providing academic leadership and first line support/mentoring for other colleagues.
Experience of engaging in pedagogic and practitioner research

Doctoral qualification
Ability to achieve Fellow Status as part of the Higher Education Academy’s Professional Recognition scheme, within agreed timescales (as soon as is practicably possible and definitely within three years of commencement of employment).
