The Opportunity
As School Support Officer (Finance and Business Operations) you will play a key part of a busy and well-established Business Operations team, within the Cardiff School of Management. You will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day financial dealings of the school whilst possessing a good level of understanding of general financial procedures to provide financial information to all budget holders in accordance with the University Financial Regulations.
You will have excellent organisational, planning and time management skills for co-ordinating and integrating budgetary management processes across the School, whilst providing financial management information and advising staff on financial procedures and budget matters.
Attention to detail is key for this role for accurately recording and processing all financial transactions in accordance with University Financial Regulations and hold a good level of experience of reviewing practices and improving School processes including making recommendations and decisions on best use of resources and value for money. Manage the School procurement process in line with Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Financial Regulations and provide detailed advice and guidance on Procurement processes and procedures to internal and external customers, using professional judgement to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, contributing to the resolution of more complex issues.
Monitor overall spend against the School’s annual budget, providing monthly reports to the School Resources and Operations Manager and SMPT as required.
Advise and train School staff in financial protocols and assist the School Resources and Operations Manager with the quality assurance of financial information across all School budgets.
Management and co-ordination of the School Asset Register, including the annual audit of the Schools’ assets in preparation for submission to central finance.
