The opportunity
The Centre for Entrepreneurship works to inspire, enable and support entrepreneurial activity across Cardiff Metropolitan University. The award-winning team provides a diverse range of materials, events, activities and, workshops which are designed to encourage and guide entrepreneurial students and graduates.
The Social Impact Development Officer will enable students to work towards the achievement of the 17 UN Strategic Development Goals (SDG’s) and the Welsh Government’s ambition to make social enterprise the business model of choice by 2030. They will do this by supporting the existing Enactus Team, raising the profile of Social Enterprise and supporting students to take action to create social value and impact either through individual action, or through existing structures such as societies and clubs.
You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience.
What you’ll do – key duties
You will work in partnership with the Students Union to support the Award Winning Cardiff Met Enactus Team, becoming their primary University Advisor.
Working with the Enterprise Champion you will plan and organise events and activities which are aligned with the aims of the role, working independently on simple activities and in collaboration on more complex interventions.You will engage with students through marketing activity, group shout outs and workshops and through 1 to 1 conversations. Your enthusiasm and commitment to sustainability in it’s broadest concept will inspire students and others to engage with this topic and to take sustainable action for others.
What you’ll bring – essential experience & strengths
You will have a good understanding of sustainable development alongside a knowledge of Social Enterprise and Social Business and will be fully committed to championing these approaches. You will have experience of working with students and of delivering projects with social or environmental impact. Your strong communication skills will be essential to the role, as will a willingness to work in a team environment.
