Cardiff Met Sport & Sport Cardiff are the driving force behind sport, physical activity, health & wellbeing in Wales’ Capital City. Our mission is clear – ‘to profoundly enhance the lives of our communities, making them healthier and stronger as an outcome of engaging with us’. We work across the City and in partnership with a range of local, regional and national partners to develop and manage sector leading sport facilities including, the National Indoor Athletics Centre, Tennis Centre, Archers Arena and a number of 21st Century Schools. We also lead the strategic direction and delivery of a wide variety of cutting-edge development programmes across schools, communities, clubs & workforce, and health & wellbeing both on our campuses and throughout Cardiff. You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent customer experience.
What you’ll do – key duties
Develop innovative interventions and programmes that actively seek to reduce gaps in participation created by disadvantage and inequality.
Improve health and wellbeing in communities across Cardiff, by developing sustainable pathways into long term sport participation.
Work with key stakeholders to ensure that all interventions are collaborative, informed and person sensitive.
Develop methods of engaging under-represented groups in co-production within Sport Cardiff programmes to ensure consultation and insight is used when shaping provision.
Work with the wider Sport Cardiff team to support interventions and ensure that they are delivered to the highest standard.
In collaboration with Community Physical Activity Manager, implement marketing and promotional campaigns for interventions and activities to ensure maximum communication and impact.
Regularly review and evaluate the Community Physical Activity programmes identifying key outcomes and measuring success. Regularly reporting to Community Physical Activity Manager on progress
Support clubs to ensure the workforce is appropriately trained to engage with the groups and support them to meet their fullest potential.
What you’ll bring – essential experience & strengths
Knowledge and understanding of how to communicate, engage and utilise local networks to collaboratively support the local community
Demonstrable experience of how to influence people’s attitude towards sport and physical activity, health and well-being.
Experience of supporting behaviour change in individuals
Experience of delivering outstanding customer service, with a high degree of empathy and understanding
Experience of problem solving and solution-focussed creative thinking skills.
Demonstratable knowledge of the expectations of organisational stakeholder groups, the process of stakeholder engagement and its value
Knowledge of the development of customer service delivery
Experience working with marginalised groups in facilitating behaviour change through sport
Demonstrable experience on adapting activities or the programme to meet individuals or group needs at that time e.g. personal, social, structural, cultural
Ability to travel efficiently across the city
What you’ll have - essential qualifications
Educated to degree level in a relevant field or equivalent demonstrable experience
Membership of CIMSPA or the ability to obtain
