Role Description
The Associate Tutor will be required to teach in the area of Sport Rehabilitation and Soft Tissue Therapy and / or Strength and Conditioning. It is essential that candidates have experience of;
working in a sport and/or clinical environment providing rehabilitation and injury prevention strategies to athletes. or
working in a sporting environment providing strength and conditioning This includes having the ability to demonstrate, coach and assess strength and conditioning skills.
All candidates should have the ability to teach and demonstrate anatomical knowledge and application of clinical assessment and diagnostic skills. Candidates must also have a significant understanding of the academic and professional nature of their subject and be able to communicate this with clarity, academic rigor and enthusiasm to undergraduate students.
Essential Criteria
A good honours degree in Sport Rehabilitation /Therapy or Physiotherapy or equivalent level 6 qualification. Or
A good honours degree in Strength and Conditioning or Sport & Exercise Science or a related subject.
Significant knowledge relevant to the subject and professional area.
Evidence of undertaking continuous professional development (CPD).
A sound understanding of pedagogy.
Ability to design teaching and learning material.
Ability to deliver sport rehabilitation practical sessions or to deliver strength and conditioning sessions.
Ability to employ appropriate assessment methods, including practical assessments.
Ability to identify areas for improvement and to use initiative and problem solving skills to improve performance.
Ability to communicate and disseminate complex and conceptual ideas in a variety of ways – practical demonstrations, presentations, reports, learning materials.
Experience of providing sport rehabilitation and soft tissue therapy or strength and conditioning to athletes and or a variety of clinical populations.
Experience of supervising and providing corrective feedback during sport rehabilitation and/or physiotherapy sessions or strength and conditioning sessions
Experience of using field or laboratory equipment to monitor performance and/or recovery from injury.
