Role Summary:
This is a key post that will contribute to the ambitions of the University's new Strategic Plan 2017/18 - 2022/23.
To co-ordinate and supervise the work of a team of Mental Health Mentors that support students with a range of mental health issues on a 1:1 basis to access their learning. To provide on-going support and training to a pool of Mentors to ensure the delivery of a high quality service. To ensure robust processes and procedures are established to satisfy external audit requirements and reimbursement of costs for services delivered from the relevant funding bodies.
To deliver 1:1 mentoring support to students. To help facilitate support arrangements for Cardiff Met students with external mentor providers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
To co-ordinate the work of a pool of mentors which includes appropriate allocation of work, arranging and facilitating initial mentor-student introductions.
To ensure adherence to support recommendations made within Needs Assessment Reports, in terms of the number of hours of mentoring a student is recommendeTo provide new staff with an induction programme and on-going training and support to ensure adherence to professional boundaries and academic standards.
To offer staff regular supervision and review meetings to discuss their caseload and any student related concerns or issues offering advice and guidance as appropriate.
