Cardiff Metropolitan University is developing exciting plans to invest and improve its two campuses, Llandaff and Cyncoed, to provide a world-leading campus and teaching environment. The post holder will play a key role within the University’s Environment and Estates Directorate, who support estates development,
campus operations and a wide

As a Statutory Compliance and Planned Maintenance Officer you will play an integral part in shaping the University’s Professional Environment and Estates department. You will be leading and supporting varied projects and work-streams.
We are looking for an individual to take responsibility and ownership of the statutory and planned maintenance requirements of the University's assets and work as part of a small team, working with a range of external contractors.
Main responsibilities include:
Ensure all the University's assets meet statutory compliance and all records are kept to record any maintenance or alterations, ensure current regulations are followed, and any deviations are addressed.
Design, implement and manage a planned maintenance program covering statutory and non-statutory requirements.
You will be required to develop customer relationships to help achieve and maintain compliance through in-depth consultation of requirements.
You will help gather data to build the existing asset register, task plans and preventative maintenance schedules
Appoint Qualified contractors to complete all works under our safe system, which considers hazards, risks, and controls associated with the asset, environment, and type of works conducted
Work in progress and retrospective checks are conducted to maintain safety and improve the quality of our service delivery
What you’ll bring – essential experience & strengths
You will bring experience, knowledge and expertise in managing, developing and improving how the University manages its statutory and planned building maintenance. Optimising compliance with statutory requirements for technical risks including, but not limited to, air hygiene, asbestos, construction, control of Legionella, electrical safety, fire safety systems, gas safety, lifting equipment, local exhaust ventilation, fume cupboards, machinery, maintenance, pressure systems, work equipment and vibration. This will include the development and maintenance of action plans, policies, safe systems of works, method statements, construction safety documents and compliance recording systems.
You will be an enthusiastic, professional, positive and creative individual, with excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills. A commitment to supporting the University in providing an excellent student experience through the development of the estate is essential.
What you’ll have - essential qualifications
Construction related degree or relevant experience.
Relevant professional qualification or membership of Building / Construction Related Institution, or relevant experience.
