The opportunity
Beacon Foods is a food manufacturing company nestled in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons, established in 1993 and manufacturing a range of vegetable, fruit, seasonings, beans and pulses. The company produces a portfolio of chutneys, relishes, marinades, sauces, stuffings, purees, compotes and caramelised citrus zests, to name but a few! The company uses high-quality ingredients for a variety of customers from major retailers, foodservice, airlines, trains and business-to-business. Beacon Foods are looking for a technical affiliate with a good understanding of process and a foody flair. This is to assist with a variety of projects like the establishment of shelf life, new processes and kit commissioning. This is a full-time role based at the manufacturing site in Brecon.
The Cardiff Metropolitan University Food Industry Centre, in collaboration with Food Innovation Wales, has a series of fixed-term opportunities for Knowledge Exchange Affiliates to work within Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) companies in the food manufacturing sector. The Affiliate will work with Industrial Supervisors in approved partner organizations to support projects in a range of areas within this sector of the Welsh economy.
What you’ll bring – essential experience & strengths

5 GCSEs including English and Mathematics at grade C or above, or equivalent qualification HNC/D or above in a relevant science subject (e.g. food science, microbiology etc.)
